The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting agricultural extension workers to enhance their effectiveness in delivering vital services to farmers across the state.

This assurance was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock, Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, during a one-day capacity-building training on basic counseling needs for successful livestock farming. The training was organized by the Department of Livestock in collaboration with the Katsina Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KATARDA) and the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).

Speaking at the event, Jibia emphasized that the initiative is in line with the vision of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda to modernize livestock farming throughout Katsina State. He stated that the current administration is working diligently to ensure that livestock and agricultural practices are upgraded to meet modern standards.

"The present administration is committed to promoting modern livestock farming across the state, and this training is a step toward equipping our extension workers with the necessary skills to support our farmers," Jibia said.

He also highlighted several achievements recorded under Governor Radda’s administration, especially in the areas of livestock development and agricultural transformation.

Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of KATARDA, Alhaji Abubakar Dabo, noted that when Governor Radda assumed office, there were fewer than 100 agricultural extension workers in the state. However, due to the administration’s efforts, the number has now increased to over 700.

Dabo urged the newly trained extension workers to ensure the sustainability of modern farming practices, emphasizing that their role is crucial to the ongoing development of agriculture and livestock in Katsina State.

In his remarks, the Director of the Livestock Department, Alh Gambo Abubakar, encouraged the extension workers to be diligent and disciplined during their training. She noted that the training is designed to equip them with practical knowledge on livestock and modern farming techniques.

Abubakar added that similar training programs will be conducted across the three senatorial zones of the state to ensure wider reach and impact.
